Vermonter Produces Top Radio Spot In National
Competition
(Montpelier, VT) An independent audio producer and
voice-over talent from Montpelier recently produced a
sixty- second radio commercial for Vanguard Records
that earned "Best Radio Spot" in a national
competition. The National Association of Radio
Merchandisers (N.A.R.M.) awarded the prize to
Vanguard Records for the commercial promoting their
artist Mindy Smith. The spot was produced and voiced
by Jody Petersen.
Petersen says "The N.A.R.M. award means a lot,
considering the competition. These are big time music
people judging the ads- Im just thrilled that
Vanguard hired me to produce a spot for an artist like
Mindy Smith." N.A.R.M. is a not for profit trade
association who's nearly 400 member companies
represent retailers, wholesalers, and distributors of
prerecorded music in the United States. Its mission is
to promote the visibility and image of the
entertainment software industry. The annual NARM
Advertising Awards recognize outstanding achievement
for ads promoting music, video and other prerecorded
entertainment software products.
Petersen, former Music Director, Disc Jockey and
Producer for WNCS/ The Point, now works independently
at her own studio in Montpelier. Her long association
with record labels has carried over to production of
radio and television commercials to promote their new
C.D. releases. Vanguard's head of radio promotion, Art
Phillips said, "Jody Petersen is my 'go to' person
for production. She understands our artists and gets
to the heart of our records in sixty seconds."
Jody's voice-over work extends nationally through an
ISDN connection. From her Montpelier location she can
voice spots for studios as far away as Orlando,
Florida.
Paul Kaza of Paul Kaza Associates, a well-established
Burlington ad agency reflects, "since Day One she was
a national caliber voice. I considered it a privilege
to utilize Jody and have done so consistently as our
agency grew."
