Sugarbush Resort has announced that it has retained two firms to assist in the development and management of the soon-to-be constructed Lodge at Lincoln Peak.
Boston-based Leggat McCall Properties will assume management responsibilities for the financing, design, construction, and legal aspects of the development of the new Lodge. With more than 35 years of experience, the firm has a vast list of commercial and mix-use properties to their name totaling more than $1.5 billion in value.
“My partners and I are very enthusiastic to be a part of such a significant project,” commented Steve Fessler, Executive Vice President for Leggat McCall. “The Lodge at Lincoln Peak will truly be a masterpiece; not just on a regional level but globally. Leggat McCall has its name on many significant projects throughout the East Coast but this project is unique. The passion and hands-on involvement of the Resort owners will ensure its success and we stand behind their commitment to using local materials, craftspeople and tradesmen whenever possible,” said Fessler.
Hotel management and day-to-day operations will be directed by Fandango Resorts, a resort management firm based in Park City, Utah. Specializing in the programming, marketing and management of upscale, full-service boutique condominium resorts, hotels and private residence clubs, the firm will specifically take on the role of program development manager and hotel operator for the Lodge. Fandango Resorts has a presence all over the world with properties under their management or in development in Park City, Utah; Bend, Oregon; Martinborough, New Zealand and Efete, Vanuatu. The past experience of the company’s principals includes such notable properties as Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort in Utah, the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and the Manele Bay Hotel, both in Hawaii.
“We know that Fandango is a perfect match with the concept of the Lodge. Just as the developer, architects and builders are striving to create an edifice that will endure for generations, we see our mission as one of creating enduring memories,” commented Matt Bailey, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Fandango Resorts.
“Our goal in hiring these firms was to build a more cohesive team with a tremendous amount of depth and experience,” commented Bob Ackland, president and general manager for the Resort. “A project of this caliber deserves and requires the level of expertise provided by Leggat McCall and Fandango,” said Ackland.
The Resort plans to begin construction on the $85 million lodge this summer. The Lodge at Lincoln Peak will have approximately 140 mountain residences ranging in size from compact studios to efficient one-bedroom units and all the way up to luxury penthouses.
Inspired by the great lodges of the West, including Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park and Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood, the Lodge at Lincoln Peak’s design will be unique, environmentally sensitive and will celebrate the richness of culture, sophistication and heritage found in Vermont’s Mad River Valley.
