Vermont Chamber of Commerce President Chris Barbieri announced that Sue Kruthers has accepted the position of Vermont Chamber Vice President of Government Relations. As the chief lobbyist for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, she will lead the Vermont Chamber five-member lobbying team in representing the business interests of over 1,500 members statewide.
“Sue Kruthers is a natural choice for the job,” stated Vermont Chamber Chairman of the Board Carl Spangler. “She has worked vigorously and effectively on behalf of the business community for decades.”
Formerly the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Travel & Tourism, Kruthers is intimately familiar with state house people and issues. She has spent her career advancing the interests of travel and tourism in the state of Vermont, first in the ski industry, then for the Vermont Chamber.
Vermont Chamber President Chris Barbieri commented, “Sue is an astute and loyal advocate of sound business policies. Not only is she a veteran of the hallways under the Golden Dome, she holds a thorough understanding of all aspects of Vermont’s complex business policies.”
During her tenure as the Vermont Chamber’s Travel and Tourism Vice President, Kruthers created the Vermont Chamber of Commerce B&B/Country Inns Council, was a founding member of the Vermont Farms Association, and was the Chair of the Vermont Travel Industry Conference Board of Directors. Kruthers retains her positions as President of the Vermont Attractions Association, Vice Chair of the National Council of Attractions, and on the board of the Travel Industry Association of America.
Kruthers, a Montpelier resident, replaces Betsy Bishop as Vermont Chamber Vice President of Government Relations. Bishop vacated her position in November to be the Douglas administration Deputy Chief of Staff.
