Wheels For Warmth Announcement Scheduled In Rutland Region
Wheels for Warmth invites the media for an announcement on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 1pm at Casella Construction on Route 4 East in Mendon.
About Wheels For Warmth
Wheels For Warmth was established by Vermont Lt. Governor Phil Scott in 2005. The program has three goals:
1. Raise funds for emergency fuel assistance for distribution to needy families through regional Community Action Agencies.
2. Create a resource for DMV-inspected tires that are deemed safe for at least one season of use, to be sold to needy Vermonters at reasonable prices.
3. Provide a convenient, inexpensive way to dispose of unwanted tires, reducing the number of tires discarded in rivers or along our roadways.
In ten years, Wheels for Warmth has raised more than $253,500 for emergency fuel assistance, sold more than 12,500 safe donated tires and recycled more than 20,5000 unsafe tires.
