Waterbury’s new BBQ Festival hosts world champions

WATERBURY, VT – In just one week, the town of Waterbury will host a showdown between three barbeque World Champions – as well as 25 other teams from throughout the Northeast – all vying for the title of Vermont State BBQ Champion. The contest takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28, as part of the Not Quite Independence Day BBQ Festival.

Besides the BBQ contest, the overall BBQ Festival also will include authentic barbecue vendors, food trucks, craft brews and hard ciders, fun family activities, fireworks, and a diversity of musical performers. Long Trail Brewing, the official beer of the Festival, is also creating two exclusive craft beers that will only be available at the event: one is a Smoked Jalapeno, and the other a Smoked Habanero.

Saturday performers include Tammy Fletcher, Seth Yacavone Blues Trio, Grundlefunk, Jenni Johnson & The Junketeers, and Still Kickin'. Sunday will be highlighted by country performers Jamie Lee Thurston and Dark Horse, as well as an appearance by Miss Vermont 2015. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the BBQ Festival and their favorite performers.

The event has already pre-sold 1400 tickets and is expecting more than 3,000 attendees in its inaugural year. Discount tickets are still on sale through www.GreenMountainBBQ.com and include one- and two-day passes for adults, kids and families.
