VINS Announces Spring Schedule

The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is welcoming the spring season by extending open hours at the VINS Nature Center and offering new daily programs. Beginning April 11, VINS Nature Center will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Daily live bird programs led by VINS' knowledgeable environmental educators will resume with the spring schedule: Raptors up Close at11:00 a.m. features topics ranging from the mechanics of bird flight and seasonal migration to avian conservation issues; Talk to the Trainer at 2:00 p.m. covers tricks of the raptor trainer's trade. All live bird programs are designed for families, adults, and children of all ages. Our new public animal feeding times are also offered throughout the day.
On the Nature Center campus, the public also has access to all of VINS' exciting exhibits:
- Raptor Enclosures with many species of native eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls
- Wild Songbird Aviary, home to many species of native songbirds, former hospital patients
- The Crawl Space, featuring an array of interactive exhibits, books, and a puppet theater
- The Nature Nook, featuring native frogs, snakes, and turtles, and natural science exhibits
- Rehab in Action, a one-way viewing window on our Wild Bird Hospital
- Nature's Playground, where children can play on natural wood structures
- Nature Trails (including an accessible section for people with mobility impairments) traversing several acres of forest along Dewey's Pond
All exhibits, trails, and daily programs are included in the price of admission to VINS Nature Center, which is $13.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors 65 and over, $11.00 for youth ages 4 to 17, and free for members and for children age 3 and under.
