Join Veterans Count, a program of Easterseals, at VFW Post 782 in Burlington for an evening of fun and prizes on February 23 from 6-9 pm at a Culcutta Fundraiser offering a $1,000 top prize! The evening will also include an exciting silent auction featuring items from Stowe Resort, Revision Military sunglasses, Vermont Teddy Bear, 14th Star Brewery, Bolton Valley Ski Resort, City Market and The Alchemist. All proceeds benefit Veterans Count and support local veterans, service members, and their families.
What is a Calcutta? It is like BINGO, but everyone has their own number, and you want your number to be the last one chosen. Additional prizes are awarded along the way as well.
Admission for two is $50 and includes a buffet-style dinner and one Calcutta ball. For tickets visit: http://vetscount.org/vt/events/calcutta/
Easterseals is a non-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities, injuries and other special needs to live, learn and work independently in their communities. We provide the highest quality services in the most caring and cost effective manner. Our staff and volunteers have a long-standing commitment to serve those for whom no other resources exist. Easterseals offers a variety of services throughout Vermont, including services through our Military and Veterans Services Program.
Veterans Count is the philanthropic arm of Easterseals Military and Veterans Services, which provides resources and services to veterans, service members and their families. Easterseals Military and Veterans Services, in conjunction with Veterans Count, developed a one-of-a-kind program which has a proven track record of helping service members and their families with a wide range of family, personal and financial needs.
Our mission is to provide critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families, to ensure their dignity, health and overall well-being. In our first year of service to Vermont:
• 118 Service Members/Veterans and their families (307 individuals) have been served
• Homelessness has been prevented for 18 families and 13 homeless families secured permanent housing
• 7 program participants have obtained employment
• 344 individuals have been linked to community resources for assistance
