St. Albans, VT- White River Junction VA Medical Center, St. Albans American Legion Post 1, and Northwestern Medical Center are teaming up for a Veterans outreach event! On Saturday, June 2nd at the St. Albans American Legion representatives from multiple departments of the White River Junction VA will be present and ready to help Veterans with claims, enrollment, and answer questions.
Representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) will be on-site to help initiate, check the status of, and answer questions related to disability claims. Eligibility personnel will be ready to enroll Veterans as well. Veterans should remember to bring a copy of their DD-214. We will have many different departments available for Veterans and community members to speak with, including: the Office of Community Care, Mental Health, Transition Coordination, and more!
“An event like this is essential for Veterans who live such long distances from one of our VA clinics. We want to ensure they are fully aware of how we can assist them with their healthcare, among other things,” explains Dr. Brett Rusch, Acting Medical Center Director for White River Junction VA Medical Center.
The goal of this event is to bring VA benefit information to a location within our Veterans’ community providing easy access to have all their inquiries addressed. The American Legion Post 1 Commander Peter Bocash says “This Healthcare Enrollment Fair is really needed in Franklin County, we need all the help we can get and with the VA working with us it will really go a long way.”
The Legion and Northwestern Medical Center will be hosting a cookout and live entertainment for Veterans and their families as they attend this event which will be held from 11:00A.M. to 3:00P.M. at the American Legion Post 1 on Parah Dr in St. Albans, Vermont.
“NMC is pleased to be a partner in this event, as it is so important that our community’s veterans are aware of all of the benefits they have earned through their service to our country. We deeply value their service and look forward to sharing this fun and informative day with them,” said Jonathan Billings, Northwestern Medical Center’s VP of Community Relations.
It is important for Veterans to remember to bring a copy of their DD-214 so they can be enrolled and scheduled on the spot!
