Sugarbush Resort Hosts Mad Marathon Celebrity Dinner at Timbers Restaurant
Warren, VT (July 1, 2015) - Sugarbush Resort kicks off the Mad Marathon weekend on Thursday, July 9th with the Mad Marathon Celebrity Dinner at Timbers Restaurant. The event is a celebrity waiter dinner to benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, and is the first in the Mad Marathon’s five-year history.
Celebrity waiters will include Dave McGillivray, Boston Marathon Race Director; Megan Smith, Vermont Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing; Adam Greshin, Sugarbush Co-owner and Vermont State Representative; Mark McCarthy, co-owner of Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel; and Bridget Barry Caswell from WCAX News. Sugarbush’s John Egan, a former Warren Miller film star and extreme skier, will act as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
The event begins with a motivational speech at 5:30 PM in Gate House Lodge with McGillivray, a philanthropist, author, and athlete. “The Mad Marathon is a great community event that benefits many worthwhile organizations in Central Vermont,” said McGillivray. “So I’m happy to be involved in the ‘celebrity’ waiter event to help the race – should be fun!” The talk is free to the public and includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Following the speech, dinner will be served at 6:30 PM at Timbers Restaurant. Dinner includes a four-course meal and live jazz music.
Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is the beneficiary of the dinner this year. Vermont Adaptive is a year-round, non-profit organization that offers diverse sports programming for the disabled. During the winter, the program operates out of Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen, one of three Vermont locations. “We are honored to always be top of mind at Sugarbush Resort and in the Mad River Valley,” said Erin Fernandez, Executive Director of Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. “Event donations like this mean so much for our organization because it raises awareness and enables everyone the opportunity to recreate – regardless of ability to pay.”
The Celebrity Dinner is $125 per person and tickets are available at sugarbush.com. For questions or to volunteer or support the Mad Marathon, please contact Dori Ingalls at [email protected] or 802-496-5393.
