South Burlington Food Shelf to host open house & ribbon-cutting Oct 28

Community invited to celebrate grassroots commitment to serving neighbors in need

WHAT:            More than 64,000 Vermonters live each day without reliable access to enough affordable and nutritious food. According to the Vermont Agency of Education, 572 South Burlington students were eligible for Free and Reduced

Lunches (FRL) in 2018-2019.

In South Burlington, almost one out of every four of our students, nearly 25% of our households with young children, and many households with citizens over 65 struggle to put food on the table.

The Faith Influenced Leaders Corporation invites the community to the open house and ribbon-cutting at the new South Burlington Food Shelf at 356 Dorset Street. Since signing the lease for the 1,600-square-foot building in May of this year, South Burlington residents, businesses, and foundations have rallied to volunteer on renovations and raise more than $10,000 to help their neighbors who struggle to put enough food on the table for their family.

WHEN:            Monday, October 28, 2019, 11 a.m.

WHERE:         South Burlington Food Shelf, 356 Dorset Street

Note:               The South Burlington Food Shelf opens to clients on November 1. Hear from community and business leaders, as well as volunteers about the outpouring of support for the city's first food shelf.
