Rutland County RSVP, Rutland County Sheriff’s Department, Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging and Godnick Adult Center today announced that they will be hosting the area’s annual TRIAD senior picnic on Friday, June 22 at Castleton University.
The picnic and barbecue will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Castleton University’s pavilion on South Street in Castleton, just north of Spartan Stadium.
“This event is a great opportunity for seniors in our community to meet and socialize, learn about resources available to them, and connect with their local law enforcement and emergency services officials,” said Lynn Tucker, Community Relations Coordinator with Rutland County Sheriff’s Department. “Not to mention, we’ll have great food and a variety of fun activities, including bingo, for folks who are able to make it.”
The event, which has been held since the early 1990’s, brings together a range of additional community resources including Vermont State Police, Rutland City and Castleton police departments, Rutland City Fire Department, and Regional Ambulance Service, among others.
“Although the event is designed to provide information and resources for seniors, we hope people of all ages will stop by, have a bite to eat, enjoy the activities and visit with the various community organizations that will be present,” added Tucker.
Admission to the picnic will be $5 for guests age 59 and under. A $4 donation is suggested for guests age 60 and over.
