RAVNAH and Rutland Regional Medical Center to Host Community Events in Celebration Hospice Milestone
RUTLAND — 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of Hospice in the United States, and two organizations are coming together to celebrate the milestone with month-long community events.
Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice (RAVNAH) and Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) will host a series of events aimed at raising awareness of the hospice and palliative care programs available to Rutland County residents. All events are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Chaffee Art Center Show “The Art of Dying”— All November long
RAVNAH and RRMC have partnered with the Chaffee Art Center to present “The Art of Dying” exhibit at the Chaffee Art Center Mansion. Various artists come together to display their works embodying this poignant theme. Opening night will feature the Hospice Trillium Singers. Refreshments will follow. The show closes December 5.
Death by Chocolate Death Café at the Chaffee Art Center — November 16, 2014, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
The international program, Death Café, provides participants with an opportunity to share in honest conversations about death, dying, and loss in a relaxed café atmosphere. Come and enjoy coffee, tea, chocolate, and other refreshments while joining in meaningful conversations guided by the program organizers. To register, call Ann at 802.770.1516.
Healing Grief through the Creative Process at the Chaffee Art Center Mansion - November 20, 2014 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Artist Susan Farrow and psychotherapist Ann LaRocque will explore the many facets of grieving and the healing effect artistic expression can have when re-creating a life after loss.
Wake Up to Dying Audio Exhibit at the Chaffee Art Center Mansion – Entire Month of November. The Wake Up To Dying Project gathers stories about death, dying and life, and supplements them with art exhibits and discussion, in effort to change the way we think and talk about dying. Come have a listen and consider what life and death mean to you.
