4 – 6 p.m.

Heritage Credit Union, Allen Street, Rutland

Legislators from the Rutland region are invited to attend the “Economy Pitch” at the Heritage Credit Union to hear representatives from the Rutland business community make five-minute pitches about the economy from their perspective – the current landscape, opportunities the State might take advantage of, and challenges we must address.

“One of the great things – and great challenges – Vermont provides is a diverse landscape, both economically and geographically. By hearing from businesses in different parts of the state, we’ll get a clearer picture of our State’s needs,” said Lt. Gov. Scott. “A lot of proactive ideas came from our first ‘Economy Pitch’ on January 7, and I’m eager for lawmakers to gather more inspiration that can be turned into legislation.”

The “Rutland Economy Pitch” comes one month after the “Vermont Economy Pitch – Priority #1 on Day One.” On January 7, roughly 75 lawmakers gathered in Montpelier to hear pitches from 15 different businesses and business organizations. A number of the ideas presented are in the process of being drafted into legislation.

“This second ‘Economy Pitch’ is an excellent opportunity for the needs of Rutland-area businesses to get prime-time exposure in Montpelier,” said Tom Donahue, executive vice president and CEO of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce. "I think these pitches will help lawmakers better understand our region’s ideas and opportunities.”

“The level of interest we’ve seen from businesses and business organizations since announcing this ‘Economy Pitch’ is inspiring,” said Jamie Stewart, executive director of the Rutland Economic Development Corporation. “It’s clear we have a lot to say – and it’s wonderful that legislators are eager to listen.”
