Powering Up Innovation for a Resource-Deprived World
Pure Water for the World is pleased to sponsor Dr. Nadya Zhexembayeva at the Chaffee Downtown Art Center on Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. In her talk of interest to business owners, environmentalists and students, she will present new strategies used currently by pioneering companies to innovate within increasing limited resource availability. Resource crunch produces new waves of expectations from investors, customers and regulators alike. It adds a new dimension and new pressures in doing business. Facing this new economic reality requires new thoughts and strategies for competing. Zhexembayeva will share five principles from her own business, consulting with innovative companies and her teaching. In 2014, Zhexembayeva released her second book, Overfished Ocean Strategy: Powering Up Innovation for Resource-Deprived World. Zhexembayeva is a business owner, author, and educator working at the intersection of innovation, leadership, and sustainable growth. In her business, she oversees a group of companies active in real estate, investment, and consulting industries. Her recent client engagements include The Coca-Cola Company, ERG (formerly ENRC PLC), Erste Bank, Henkel, Knauf Insulation, and Vienna Insurance Group.
Until April 2014, Zhexembayeva also served as the Coca-Cola Chaired Professor of Sustainable Development at IEDC- Bled School of Management, an executive education center based in the Slovene Alps, where she continues to teach courses in leadership, strategy, change management, design thinking, and sustainability. In addition to IEDC, Dr. Zhexembayeva has taught in a number of other business schools, including CEDEP (France) and IPADE Business School (Mexico).
Zhexembayeva chairs the Resourcefulness Advisory Board at OMV, an oil and gas company, and sits on the Advisory Board of the Fowler Center for Sustainable Value at Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She also serves as Vice-President of Challenge: Future, a global student think-DO-tank and innovation competition.
Zhexembayeva earned her doctorate in organizational behavior at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, USA, where she also served as an Associate Director at the Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit (BAWB), now Fowler Center for Sustainable Value, until 2008. A daughter of Kazakhstan, Zhexembayeva and her family split their life between US and Europe.
