LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST SERIES BEGINS
WITH FIRST MONTHLY SESSION
Monday, January 30.
The Northeast Kingdom Chamber legislative breakfast will be held Monday, Jan. 30, at the St. Johnsbury House, 1207 Main St., St. Johnsbury. Chamber director, Darcie McCann and local Legislators will address the business issues before the legislature this session, including health care, state tourism funding, labor issues, permitting, economic development issues, taxes and fiscal policies.
"As important as it is for our businesses and residents to receive updates on the legislative bills before the session, it is also as imperative to have our legislators hear where the business community stands on legislation and how it may affect the region's business sector," said Darcie McCann, executive director of the chamber.
The monthly programs provide area business people and residents an overview of the session and legislative issues affecting the region. The Northeast Kingdom Chamber organizes the monthly forums and provides a brief legislative report each month. Following legislator updates, there will be time allotted at the end of each breakfast for questions from the public.
The breakfasts are held the last Monday of each month from January to May, from 8 to 9 a.m. Please mark your calendars for the 2017 dates of Feb. 27, March 27, April 24 and May 22. The chamber would like to thank Kingdom Access Television, WSTJ and the Caledonian-Record for covering the breakfasts.
The legislative breakfast series is sponsored by the Northeast Kingdom Chamber, with sponsorship assistance from Community National Bank, Fairbanks Scales, Lyndon Institute, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Passumpsic Savings Bank, St. Johnsbury Academy, Union Bank and Weidmann. There is a small fee of $3 to attend the breakfast.
