GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW
DOWNTOWN BURLINGTON TRANSIT CENTER
SUNDAY, MAY 17 --
10:30 a.m. – Senator Leahy to deliver commencement address at Marlboro College. Leahy, who for the last decade has led behind-the-scenes work to lay the groundwork for replacing the failed 50-year-old U.S. embargo on Cuba with a path toward normalization, will discuss the recent breakthrough, including his recounting of his December 17 flight to Havana to bring Alan Gross home.
MONDAY, MAY 18 --
11:00 a.m. – Senator Leahy and other officials to break ground on a new transit center in downtown Burlington. Leahy secured $8 million in federal funding for the design and construction of the center that will serve as the hub of CCTA’s bus routes. The new, modern facility will be located a block from Church Street, ensuring that commuters, students and other riders have a safe and warm place to wait for their rides. The transit center replaces a set of more than 30-year-old outdated shelters that currently function as CCTA’s downtown station. Event will take place on the Saint Paul Street block between Cherry and Pearl Streets.
