Diana Henriques to Keynote Annual Dinner at Grand Isle Lake House
The Lake Champlain Islands Economic Development Corporation is holding its Partners in Growth Annual Dinner on Wednesday, May 21, at 6 p.m. at the Grand Isle Lake House. Keynote speaker this year will be Diana Henriques, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter, and author of “The Wizard of Lies,” a best- selling expose of Bernie Madoff, now in prison for his multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme. Henriques will conduct a book-signing at the event.

LCIEDC awards for this year are as follows: 2014 Business of the Year, North Country Federal Credit Union for settling in Alburgh and providing a key economic development asset to the northern part of the County. The 2014 Community Service Award: The Isle La Motte Preservation Trust, whose members have worked tirelessly to conserve the Fisk Quarry and the Goodsell Ridge Preserves, which protect important sites of the Chazy Fossil Reef, a National Natural Landmark, for the benefit of scientists and interested visitors from across the world. A special Community Service Award will honor Dr. David Hobbs, who has recently retired from serving the health needs of residents of the Champlain Islands.
Sponsors for the “Partners in Growth” dinner are Bauer Gravel Farnham and Peoples Trust Company. The cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. The event will feature local wines from East Shore Vineyard and Snow Farm and local foods including Boucher and Cabot cheeses, Boyden beef, Vermont Grown chorizo, Pomykala asparagus, Misty Knoll turkey, Madhouse Munchies, Switchback Ale and Island Homemade Ice Cream.
