Kids Become Veterinarians for a Day with Dr. Brad Burrington of
Veremedy Pet Hospital at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society’s Kid’s Camp
West Windsor, Vermont – July 7, 2014 – Kid’s Animal Camp at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society is not a typical summer camp experience for children. It is the kind of camp experience that might change the course of a child’s life. During each week-long session of camp, children at will be visited by Brad Burrington, DVM, of Veremedy Pet Hospital of White River Junction and Woodstock, VT. During his visit, Dr.Burrington will give campers the chance to experience a day in the life of a veterinarian.
Donning scrubs and gloves and under Dr. Burrington’s direction, the children will explore the world of veterinary medicine. Together they will examine Fido, a sick male dog (stuffed animal), to determine what is ailing him. After discussing symptoms, taking an x-ray, and deciding on a treatment, the children veterinarians will perform “surgery.”
Through activities led by Dr. Burrington, other area animal experts, and through field trips to farms, children at Lucy Mackenzie’s Kid’s Animal Camp will learn about caring for animals in a loving and humane way. Creative and fun-filled hands-on activities in both indoor and outdoor settings will help children celebrate the connection between all living things and promote respect for people, animals, and the environment.
