Excellence in Government awards culminates Public Service Recognition Week in Vermont

The Vermont Federal Executive Association (VTFEA) is pleased to host the Excellence in Government Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Hampton Inn in Colchester, VT beginning at 11:30 a.m.  The awards ceremony is the culmination of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) that honors the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.  We are expecting over one hundred and forty guests that include this year’s award nominees, heads of Vermont Federal agencies and representatives from Vermont’s U.S. Congressional Delegation.

The VTFEA is a voluntary organization that consists of executive leaders from 36 Federal agencies that employ approximately 5,000 employees throughout Vermont.  The VTFEA hosts this special event to recognize the outstanding service of federal employees, emphasize the importance of public service and serve as a role model of excellence in government for the next generation to emulate.

We are pleased to have Brigadier General Mike Heston, Vermont National Guard Deputy Adjutant General and VTFEA Member-at-large, as our keynote speaker.  General Heston will address the audience and share lessons from his distinguished federal career as well as outline the importance of public service and its importance to the economic and social vitality of Vermont.

This year’s award nominees work in a wide range of career fields that include law enforcement, immigration, public safety, veteran care, agriculture, air traffic control, and wildlife conservation.  These employees are being recognized for their exceptional contributions in increasing government efficiencies and improving the living conditions for all Vermonters.
