Tier 2 Workshop Jan. 15 for Facilities with Chemicals
Rutland – December 29: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites facility owners and operators to a free half-day compliance assistance workshop on Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and Clean Air Act, Section 112(r) Risk Management Program. EPCRA requires facilities having certain chemicals, with quantities as low as one pound, to submit annual chemical inventory (Tier 2) reports. Typical industry and business sectors required to report include auto body, bus companies, camps, colleges, electronics, pharmaceuticals, manufacturers, refrigeration, scrap yards, warehouses, etc. By attending the workshop, facilities could avoid an enforcement action under EPCRA resulting in penalties of up to $37,500 per chemical violation, per day.
The workshop will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015, 12-4pm at the Rutland Free Library (Fox Room), 10 Court Street in Rutland. The event is sponsored by the Rutland Region Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Rutland Regional Planning Commission, and the EPA. Light lunch will be provided. Registration for the workshop is required no later than January 11, by emailing your name, company, mailing and email address, and phone number to [email protected]. The workshop agenda and other details can be found online (http://www.rutlandrpc.org/LEPC/trainings&grants), or by calling the Rutland Regional Planning Commission at 775-0871.
