Creating Your Own Small Business Website is subject of BDCC workshop, April 29

INSTIG8, an arm of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, will help

small businesses and nonprofits create their own website in a workshop to be

held on Thursday, April 29 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the BDCC office at the

Cotton Mill.

The workshop will be taught by Bob Lawson, founder of Sustainable Digital, a

Putney-based company specializing in web design.

Websites for small businesses and nonprofits are as common today as business

cards and play a large role in promoting an enterprise or organization. With

the advent of new web tools, such as Squarespace, the job of developing and

maintaining a website can now be handled by people without technical

training.

In this workshop, Bob Lawson will present a live demonstration of how you can

create a simple website from the ground up using Squarespace’s templates

and easy editor.

The website basics you’ll learn will include:

•       How to select a template

•       How to organize the site and its menu

•       Using “Blocks” to layout pages

•       Building a photo gallery

•       Adding forms and other special features.

About the Instructor: Bob develops websites and provides other digital

communication and technology services from his office in Putney, VT. In

addition to websites, he helps both nonprofits and for-profits develop and

implement their communications strategy. More information about Sustainable

Digital is available at: www.sustainabledigital.com.
