Chew Chew Festival Yard Sale July 29th

Thank You to the several hundred thousand happy munchers who attended Vermont’s First & Largest-Ever celebration of Burlington area restaurants and Vermont Specialty Food Producers between 1984 and 2009.

I put all the equipment and decorations away inside a semi trailer back in 2009 and have barely “touched it” for nine long years and now it’s time to open it up and clean house ..er trailer. This coming Saturday morning, July 29th, from 9 am to noon, I am holding a one-time-only Chew Chew Festival Yard Sale in Burlington. Watch for the signs on Pine Street just west of the old bus station, north of Myers Bagels and south of Curtis Lumber, at the south end of the semi-trailer graveyard on the west side of the old bus station parking lot.

Unusual items - LOW prices - everything has got to go! Some of the Chew Chew artifacts for sale are two large wooden Chew Chew simulated railroad crossing signs (that read: “Stop, Look & Taste” and “Look Out For The Calories); hand painted Chew Chew banners; over 150 Chew Chew Restaurant signs. Chew Chew Hats & Staff Tee Shirts; three commercial/bank coin counters; Decorator items - old lunch boxes, large wooden forks and spoons; some tools; barrels; hoses; extension cords; gas hot water heater & sinks; strings of lights; some antiques and many more festival items too numerous to mention.

There is an excellent story in today’s Burlington Free Press by Brent Hallenbeck with more details and some memory-grabbing festival photos from the Free Press archives. I’ll be visiting the Charlie, Ernie & Lisa Show this coming Thursday morning at 8:10 on WVMT to talk about the sale and also a visit the next day, Friday, July 28th at 2:30 pm with Arty LaVigne on The Getaway on WDEV Radio Vermont in Waterbury.

Please come and have a look at the Chew Chew “artifacts” next Saturday between 9 and noon and take a piece of Burington’s gastronomic history home with you!

Chew Chew ex-Engineer,

Rick
