Facebook event
WHAT: MN350 and St. Paul 350 will host a panel discussion with 350.org founder and author Bill McKibben and MN350 Executive Director Sam Grant. Their discussion will explore how racial injustice and the climate crisis arise from the same deeply rooted systems of exploitation and extraction. The event will also consider how climate organizations are currently working to dismantle oppressive systems and what implications that holds for the climate movement in Minnesota. This panel discussion comes as Minnesotans continue to protest against police brutality and racism following the May killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

"Unjust power structures have endangered both the environment and Black people in our community,” said MN350 Communications Director Brett Benson. “As we continue to grapple with those systems in our cities and our state, we must learn how to advocate simultaneously for racial justice and climate justice.”
“Our breath connects us all and when that is threatened -- whether it is by pollution, pandemic, or police brutality -- we need to come together and take action,” said Chelsea DeArmond, a leader with St. Paul 350. “Racial and environmental injustices are the result of property and profit being valued more than people and the planet.”
