VtSBDC: Registration is open for a free virtual event for students, Feb 7

15th Annual Vermont Entrepreneurship Day. Vermont Entrepreneurs – Finding Your Groove”

Vermont Business Magazine Registration is open to join Vermont educators, government officials, business advisors, business leaders, and students on Feb. 7, 2024, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. for the free 15th annual and fourth virtual Vermont Student Entrepreneurship Day. In the spirit of bringing forward-thinking Vermonters together to encourage exploration of entrepreneurship through creative expression, the theme of this year’s event is, “Vermont Entrepreneurs – Finding Your Groove.”  To register, visit: https://www.vtsbdc.org/ved/

Vermont students in grades 9 through 12 will hear from enterprising Vermont entrepreneurs and learn from outstanding keynote speakers. More than 300 students and educators participated in last year’s Entrepreneurship Day.

The exciting agenda offers an opportunity for all high school and technical school students statewide to showcase their work as well as a chance to hear from leading experts on their stories and experiences.  Moderated by VtSBDC business advisor Sarah Kearns, a successful young entrepreneur will share his experience, and college-age entrepreneurs will showcase highlights of a pitch competition. Winners of the annual visual media competition will be announced.

“We are looking forward to once again facilitating this much anticipated annual event that focuses on our students who are the future of Vermont,” said Linda Rossi, VtSBDC State Director. “We remain committed to providing a program that celebrates entrepreneurship, recognizes the success of local business leaders, and helps students connect with those who can support them in building a foundation in critical thinking, innovation and communication tools for their future roles in the workforce.”

“We want to encourage young people to develop skills they can use both personally and professionally. This event motivates students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, to explore the creative process and to be open to new ideas,” said Laurel Butler, VtSBDC Specialty Advisor for Student Entrepreneurship.

Vermont Student Entrepreneurship Day is hosted and sponsored by the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC); U.S. Small Business Administration - Vermont District Office; Vermont Career and Technical Student Organizations; and Vermont Business Education Corps. VtSBDC is hosted by Vermont State University.

The planning and facilitating committee includes: Linda Rossi (VtSBDC State Director); Laurel Butler (VtSBDC Specialty Advisor for Student Entrepreneurship); Darcy Carter (SBA VT District Director); Jacob Dubois (Uptown Cow); Sarah Kearns (VtSBDC Business Advisor of Addison County and Statewide Collegiate Advisor); Susan Ladd (Coordinator for VT Career & Technical Student Organizations); and Phyllis Ershowsky (VtSBDC Marketing & Communications Specialist).
