Vermont Business Magazine The Acting United States Attorney for the District of Vermont announced today that Shequille Carter, 28, was sentenced to 60 months in prison for possessing with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and more than 28 grams of cocaine base. Chief Judge Geoffrey Crawford also ordered that Carter serve a four-year period of supervised release following the prison term.

They said that fully eliminating this tax is not only about honoring our veterans for their service and sacrifice, but also about growing our workforce and increasing diversity in our state.

Vermont Business Magazine Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), southeastern Vermont’s non-profit community mental-health agency, announced today that they have implemented a new patient portal. The online portal provides the individuals they support with access to enter and obtain their own health information, communicate with their HCRS provider, schedule appointments, and ultimately better manage their health.
The online patient portal system, which is HIPAA compliant, can be accessed 24/7 through a secure website.

The bill (H157) aims to establish state control over contractors who do residential construction. The bill’s lead sponsor is Rep. Scott Campbell (D-St Johnsbury). On April 6 the House advanced the bill on a vote of 97 to 52 and sent it to the Senate.

Vermont Business Magazine Three teams of Dartmouth researchers have been selected to receive the first awards from the Dartmouth Innovations Accelerator for Cancer. A philanthropy-funded initiative, the Accelerator was launched in 2020 by Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship to bring new cancer treatments to patients more quickly. So far, it has raised $3.3 million in philanthropic gifts and seeks to hit $5 million by June.
