The University of Vermont study finds the state’s average annual temperature has warmed by nearly 2°F, and precipitation has increased by a whopping 21%, since 1900. The study is also the latest evidence of significant warming and increased precipitation in the US Northeast due to climate change.

The Department of Labor offers service members and Veterans looking for assistance with transitioning to a civilian career with job search assistance, one-on-one career counseling, connections to workforce training, education opportunities, and other resources. Veterans, and qualifying spouses, are given priority status for these services. Veteran Services Coordinators, who are veterans themselves, are available to provide further information and assistance.

Vermont Business Magazine COVID-19 cases in Vermont have increased 42% over the last 7 days and increased 55% over the last 14 days. Vermont reported 696 more cases this week compared to last week. And Vermont had the 12th-highest rate of new COVID-19 cases over the last week. As for today's case count, the Vermont Department of Health is reporting cases fell again to 189. They were 235 Monday after another surge Sunday drove them to 376 cases, the third highest on record. There were also three additional COVID-related deaths, which rose to 387 statewide.

Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Health Network has successfully completed the second phase implementation of the Epic electronic health record system at Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) in Berlin and Porter Medical Center (PMC) and Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing in Middlebury, which launched on Saturday, November 6. The expansion adds surgical services, rehabilitation, inpatient hospital, and emergency department visits into Epic – and allows providers to have secure and up-to-date access to patient medical records across Network affiliates. This second phase launch is a key component in the Network’s recently released Access Action Plan to increase timely access to care for patients across the region.

Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Medical Center medical staff has elected Dr Heather Stein, the chief medical officer for the Community Health Centers of Burlington, as its new president – strengthening ties between the medical center and community health care providers. Dr Stein is a native of West Virginia, and grew up in Morgantown where her father practiced family medicine for 35 years. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in biochemistry and a BA in classical studies. Dr Stein returned to West Virginia University for medical school before moving to Vermont for her family medicine residency at UVM Medical Center where she was introduced to the Community Health Centers of Burlington community (CHCB).
