Copley recognizes employees for excellence in service

It was a special evening for more than 100 staff as Copley Hospital honored three employees for excellence and recognized years of service during the annual Employee Awards Banquet. Copley President Mel Patashnick kicked off the May 14th gathering by reminding staff that “We, (Copley) and the people we serve have the good fortune to have a team of professionals who are dedicated to their jobs and their communities. Being part of a quality team and a great community has created a tradition of longevity among the Hospital family. Copley is especially proud of the people honored tonight as they have demonstrated a commitment to Copley, its mission and the communities it serves.”
In keeping with tradition, Dr. Joel Silverstein, President of the Copley Medical Staff, presented two awards on behalf of the medical staff. Each year the Edward French Memorial award is presented in recognition of nursing excellence. Dr. Silverstein noted that the award is truly one of honor as the Medical Staff elected years ago to remember Dr. French with a nursing award that recognized exemplary caring, competence and clinical skills. This year Emergency Room nurse Andy Duff, RN was presented with the honor.
The Goddard Family Award recognizes excellence in a non-nursing position. This year’s award was presented to Karin Vossler of the Radiology Department. Vossler, known by her peers for doing what needs to be done, is an expert in trauma radiology. She is described as dependable, efficient and is always smiling. Vossler’s 24 years of service to the Department is a testament to her dedication and commitment to quality care.
The banquet culminated with Patashnick naming Wendy Kruger of Hardwick as Employee of the Year. Kruger, also celebrating her 10 years of service to Copley, works in the hospital’s Quality Management Department. Her peers describe her as dedicated, helpful, and always willing to help other staff without compromising her own work responsibilities. Patashnick said, “Wendy is thorough and accurate with her work and enjoys taking on challenges.” This prestigious award is described as a people’s choice award as nominations are driven by staff.
