NBT Bank began to serve the New England region in 2009 with the opening of its Vermont Regional Headquarters in Burlington. Since then, the bank expanded in New England through organic growth and acquisitions. Now NBT Bank has approximately 170 employees and $1.6 billion in loans in the region, as well as locations in five states, including Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut.
NBT's President Matt Durkee leads a strong team with three additional Vermont locations in Essex, Williston and Rutland. Members of the Vermont management team include: Regional Commercial Banking Manager Dan Werme; Commercial Banking Relationship Managers Rob Roy, Leo Cruickshank, Emily Cabral-Haag and Jameson Roberts; Residential Mortgage Sales Manager Dody Fraher-Ruland; Mortgage Originator Christie Mitchell, Branch Managers Robert Provost, Dave Micklas, and Peter O’Brien.
NBT Bank is ranked #14 in the United States on the Forbes 2019 World’s Best Banks list—achieving top spot for banks in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and New York State. Forbes surveyed more than 40,000 customers around the globe for their opinions on their current and former banking relationships. The banks were rated on overall recommendation and satisfaction, as well as five subdimensions: trust, terms and conditions, customer services, digital services and financial advice.
Because of its strong presence in Vermont, NBT Bank expanded into several other New England states, including recently relocating its Maine Regional Office in Portland to a more convenient, visible location. The new location allows the bank to enhance services offered to commercial customers and provide new options for retail customers, including a planned walk-up ATM.
In November, NBT Bank also announced its expansion into the Connecticut market with plans for a regional office in the Greater Harford, CT area in the first quarter of 2020. This will position the bank with the flexibility to deliver high-quality, fast commercial banking service with its local decision-making capabilities backed by the strength and security from our corporate portfolio.
NBT Bank offers personal banking, business banking and wealth management services from locations in six other states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut. The bank and its parent company, NBT Bancorp Inc., are headquartered in Norwich, NY. NBT Bancorp had assets of $9.7 billion as of September 30, 2019 and is traded on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol NBTB.
