College of St. Joseph names Director of Development and Alumni Relations

College of St. Joseph is pleased to announce that Nanci Gordon has been named Director of Development and Alumni Relations. This position will be part of the Office of External Affairs, which includes development, marketing, communications and campus facility usage.

Gordon is a great fit for this role as both an alumna and longtime advocate for the College. In her new role with CSJ, Nanci will oversee the annual fund, the College’s efforts to seek grant funding and its work to cultivate alumni.

College of St. Joseph Interim President Lawrence Jensen said Gordon will build on the College’s successes in development and alumni outreach.

“For many years Nanci has exuded her loyalty to her Alma Matter and will make a great addition to our staff. I am so pleased to welcome her to her new role here at College of St. Joseph,” Jensen said.

Gordon is a native of Suffolk County on New York’s Long Island and graduated from Rutland High School in 1979. She completed her degree as part of the CSJ Class of 1983 — BA, Liberal Studies (English), summa cum laude. She is best-known to many for her media career, which began in 1986. She spent 21 of those years at WJJR-FM in Rutland.

She also has more than a decade of experience in the non-profit sector, including serving as executive director of United Way of Rutland County, and working with VT Association of Business, Industry and Rehabilitation, and the Rutland Area Prevention Coalition.

Gordon is currently a member of the Bowse Health Trust Board of Trustees, Rutland Region Workforce Investment Board Executive Committee, Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church, Rutland, Lay Deputy from Vermont’s Deputation to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church, Vice President of the CSJ Alumni Association, and the board of Vermont Actors Repertory Theatre.

CSJ is also pleased to announce that Elicia Mailhiot has been promoted to associate director of communications. Elicia has done tremendous work in communications and marketing for CSJ since joining the College nearly two years ago as marketing / communications associate and project manager.

Mailhiot is a 2012 graduate of Castleton University and holds a bachelor degree in communications. She has previously worked in marketing and communications at the Killington Pico Area Association and the Town of Killington. She has also written for a number of area publications such as the Rutland Herald and Vermont Eagle.

“Elicia has shown great skills in the performance of her duties here at our College and will excel in these expanded responsibilities,” Jensen said.

Additionally, James Lambert will move into the role of Vice President for External Affairs. James will lead the College’s work in business and community outreach, marketing and branding, and utilizing the College’s physical assets.

James joined College of St. Joseph in 2012 and has previously served as director of communications and associate vice president for marketing and external affairs. Previously, he worked as an editor at the Rutland Herald. He was recently named to the Rising Stars Class of 2016 by Vermont Business Magazine.

“James has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to College of St. Joseph and a real dedication to our mission,” Jensen said.
