Okemo Mountain Resort Ski + Ride School Supervisor and Instructor Katie Brinton was named one of Ski Area Management’s "10 Under 30" in the July 2017 issue of the magazine. Brinton, age 27, of Water Mill, NY, made her first turns on snow as a Ski-Wee at Okemo. She is now a PSIA Alpine Level III certified instructor and trainer. “I grew up skiing there [Okemo Mountain Resort],” Brinton said. “After I got a job as an instructor, I realized the ski industry could be a real-life job.”
Ski Area Management is a ski industry publication that recognizes ten young professionals annually. This year’s "10 Under 30" headline reads “Wise Beyond Their Years – at resorts throughout North America, an impressive crop of talented millennials is taking the reins.”
Okemo Mountain Resort Ski + Ride School Director Chirs Saylor said, “I am very pleased with Katie's selection for SAM's "10 under 30." Katie is a hard-working, dedicated professional who exemplifies what it takes to be a great instructor and staff trainer. Her guests and their experiences are always at the forefront of her thoughts.”
“My managers in the Ski + Ride School are dedicated and thoughtful and have offered me so much support and room for growth,” said Brinton. “I love the ski industry and the team I work with at Okemo, and I was really honored to be recognized for the work I do in our snowsports school. I am looking forward to another winter at Okemo where I can continue to support our wonderful staff as a trainer and supervisor and develop as an instructor as I pursue further education through PSIA.”
