The board of directors of Local Motion, a statewide bike safety advocacy organization based in Burlington, has announced the retirement of Executive Director Karen Yacos, effective Nov 1. A search committee will begin at once to identify Yacos' successor.
“Karen has worked tirelessly to broaden the organization’s outreach to donors and critical partners in sustainable transportation, expanding the Local Motion footprint statewide,” said board chair Katie Langrock. “Her visionary leadership led to the organization’s newly minted 2022 strategic plan.”
“I feel fortunate to have been a part of an organization with a mission so closely aligned with my own values,” said Yacos. “I am grateful that I got to work with such talented staff, and an engaged constituency and board, in our efforts to make it possible for anyone in Vermont who wishes to walk, roll or ride a bike to do so safely.”
