Melvyn Patashnick, President and CEO of Copley Health Systems, Inc. has announced plans to retire in August 2016, after nearly ten years of service with Copley Hospital.

The Vermont Historical Society presented H. Nicholas Muller III and John J. Duffy with the Richard O. Hathaway award for their book Inventing Ethan Allen.

The University of Vermont’s Fleming Museum of Art has announced their receipt of an extraordinary promised gift of nearly 200 European and American paintings, prints, drawings and photographs from Jericho, Vermont collector, J. Brooks Buxton ‘56. Buxton’s deep and abiding interest in history—global and local—has resulted in a unique and diverse collection.

Steven R. Gordon, President and CEO of Brattleboro Memorial Hospital has announced that Joan Bowman has assumed a new role as BMH’s Community Resource Liaison.

Martha Leonard has joined Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs as an accountant. Martha graduated from the College of St. Joseph with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and from Community College of Vermont with an Associate’s degree in Accounting.

Joan Carter has joined the Vermont Arts Council as director of administration, replacing Elaine DuFresne, who recently retired. Carter brings to the Council a deep background in accounting, financial management, and information technology. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and decades of varied experience working in small to large businesses.

Vermont Lake Monsters radio broadcaster George Commo has been named the winner of the inaugural Warner Fusselle Award for Radio Excellence, given to the best New York-Penn League broadcaster as determined on overall production quality, knowledge/preparedness and presentation of the game by a league committee, the Short Season Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics has recently announced.

Nick Lizotte has joined BlackRock Construction as managing principal. In addition, Lizotte, a real estate sales professional from Stowe, has joined KW Vermont. As managing principal, Lizotte will be responsible for the growth of BlackRock Construction by creating an investment focus, acquisition strategy, analyzing development opportunities, and overseeing their capital raising efforts.

The Vermont Historical Society elected Roger Stone to its Board of Trustees at the organization’s annual meeting recently. Roger’s ancestors came to Vermont after the French and Indian War. His immediate family moved to Vermont when he was in junior high, and he graduated in 1964 from UVM. He and his wife raised their children in Belmont, Massachusetts, before returning to Vermont.

ArtShape Mammoth, a nationwide arts organization that connects artists with new communities, is partnering with Vermont's ONE Arts to include the work of several talented Vermont artists alongside artists of national renown in Miami Art Week this December. Miami Art Week is the largest art fair experience in the world, attracting the world's top artists and crowds in the thousands.
