First developed in Germany, Passive House is a quality standard for energy efficiency that results in ultra-low energy buildings. Passive House buildings focus on insulation, windows, building orientation, and ventilation systems to produce structures that require very little energy to heat and cool.

The Vermont Mountaineers announced today the hiring of Andrew Whalen, a senior at Lyndon State College as their play-by-play broadcaster for the 2018 NECBL baseball season. Whalen was an anchor for News7, the college’s fully functioning newsroom, during his tenure at Lyndon State. In addition to his journalism degree, Whalen will also graduate with an Associates in Business Administration.

Secretary of State Jim Condos and Deputy Secretary Chris Winters travelled to DC this past weekend to attend the annual National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) 2018 Winter Conference.

Seema Jaipal, a P4 student at the Vermont Campus of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), will represent the college for the second consecutive year at the APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition to be held in Nashville, TN, in March. Jaipal earned her spot in the national event after winning a local competition.

The Vermont Conservation Voters (VCV) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Lauren Hierl has been named Executive Director. Hierl has served as the VCV Political Director since 2014.

Kinney Pike Insurance has added Brittany Hollman as their new Media and Communications Specialist. Brittany is based out the Williston office but provides statewide support for the agency. Brittany joins Kinney Pike Insurance with experience in the media and communications industry and a BS in Public Relations and Event Management from Champlain College.

NG Advantage LLC, which is majority-owned by Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ:CLNE) announced the promotions of Tyler Fontaine and Jeremy Randall to Assistant Operations Team Manager to help supervise the operations teams, and coordinate efforts with the company’s maintenance, IT, and gas supply departments.

At a reception overflowing the Vermont State House’s Cedar Creek Room, Renewable Energy Vermont presented co-founder of Catamount Solar, Dan Kinney with the 2017 Jim Grundy Award for generosity of spirit and integrity in bringing renewable energy to his community.

David Silverman, President and CEO of Union Bank, and Vermont State Representative Dylan Giambatista will join the Vermont State College System Board of Trustees. Silverman is a 1985 alumnus of Johnson State College and has retained long and strong connections with the college.

Zach Williams has been elected as the new President of the Lamoille County Mental Health Services Board of Directors. Zach is the Chief Financial Officer of Bourne’s Energy in Morrisville. He began his accounting career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Minneapolis, Minnesota performing and supervising audits of companies ranging in revenue from $50M to $2B.

Jason Black has joined VHB as an Environmental Scientist in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. Jason will be supporting our GIS and mobile data collection team out in the field. He brings to the office extensive experience in editing shapefiles, LiDAR and NAIP imagery, and even imagery collection and three-dimensional data processing for UAV flights.

Karin Bourassa has joined VHB as the Administration Manager in the firm’s South Burlington, Vermont office. She brings with her a strong focus in business administration and management.
