Burlington mayor names city’s first senior adviser on community safety

Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak has appointed Ingrid Jonas as the city's first senior adviser on community safety.

Jonas, the first woman to reach the ranks of captain and major at the Vermont State Police, had a distinguished 26-year career with the force. She held several leadership roles, including director of internal affairs, director of fair and impartial policing and community affairs, and commander of the Support Services Division.

Smith appointed executive director of Vermont Council on Rural Development

Denise Smith, director of population health programs and strategies at Northwestern Medical Center, has been appointed executive director of the Vermont Council on Rural Development, effective Sept. 3.

Smith brings to VCRD more than 20 years of leadership, nonprofit management, community development and business experience. Prior to Northwestern Medical, she served as executive director of Friends of Northern Lake Champlain, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the water quality of Lake Champlain.
