Grant Moneys for Farm Experiments

Vermont farmers have always been eager to try new crops and ways to
produce them. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Sustainable Agriculture
Research and Education program (SARE), wants to help by providing funds to
assist with on-farm experimentation by farmers.
This year, there are two groups of grants available from SARE that are

Green Mountain
Power Corporation (NYSE: GMP) announced today that it has commenced a
"Dutch Auction" self tender offer to purchase up to 800,000, or 14%, of
its common shares (including the associated common stock purchase rights).

Record Quarterly Earnings at Banknorth

Banknorth Group Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG)
announced record quarterly net income of $76.9 million, or 51 cents
per diluted share, for the three months ended September 30, 2002, an
increase of 24% from net income of $62.2 million, or 45 cents per diluted
share, for the same quarter a year ago. Exclusive of special charges,
third quarter earnings were $78.3 million, or 52 cents per diluted share,
up 26 % from $62.2 million, or 45 cents per diluted per share, for the
same quarter a year ago.

The Honorable Barbara Snelling is the Vermont Chamber Citizen of the Year

Barbara Snelling has been selected as the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Mark and Senator Diane Snelling will present the prestigious award at the 2002 Citizen of the Year Banquet, which will take place Wednesday, October 23 at the Radisson Hotel in Burlington. James Crook Jr to Become CEO of IDX

IDX Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:IDXC) announced that effective January 1, 2003, James H. Crook, Jr will become Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Crook joined IDX in 1981and has been President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company since 1999. He will retain the title of President.
