Today PC Construction hosted an awards ceremony to present three Waterbury-based nonprofits with donations totaling $15,000 as part of the company’s 2014 campaign “Building Communities: PC Construction Gives Back.” The first-place winner, Brain Injury Association of Vermont, received a $10,000 donation; the second-place winner, Green Mountain Club, received $3,000; and the third-place winner, Revitalizing Waterbury, received $2,000.
The announcement follows a month-long crowdsourced-voting contest. PC Construction’s employee-owners nominated 10 nonprofits based in the Waterbury, Vermont area. The contest was then opened up to a public vote to help determine the final winners.
During the four-week period concluding on October 31, more than 7,000 votes were cast.

Waterbury was selected as the second community for PC Construction’s 2014 giving campaign, following successful donations earlier this year to three nonprofits in greater Washington, D.C., where PC Construction has a significant presence. The South Burlington-based contractor has been helping the State of Vermont rebuild the Waterbury State Office Complex and wanted to give back to the community that withstood incredible hardships following Tropical Storm Irene.
“Waterbury suffered some pretty challenging times following Tropical Storm Irene,” said Kevin McCarthy, CEO/president of PC Construction. “Waterbury nonprofits and their supporters were there all along the way, helping dig neighbors out of the mud and begin rebuilding their homes, businesses and community.”
“As we continue constructing in the heart of Waterbury, we are proud to be able to give back in this way, helping build communities and support those who make a difference in the lives of Waterbury residents and Vermonters every single day,” added McCarthy.
