Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC) is pleased to announce 35 businesses selected for awards through the Existing Dairy Processor Expansion Grant.  

With total funding of $12,287,001 across eight states, individual awards range from $25,852 to $1 million. Those selected for awards represent processors of all sizes, from farmstead creameries to multi-state businesses and co-ops.   

This one-time infusion of funding is a direct result of the Northeast Dairy Taskforce, convened by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, at the request of USDA Secretary Vilsack in response to Horizon/Danone pulling out of the region.

Among the selected recipients are 10 Vermont dairy processors.

Farm to Institution Market Development Grant

Reminder: Farm to Institution Market Development Grant
The Farm to Institution Market Development Grant helps local food producers and processors sell more local food to local institutions.

Projects will increase sales for local producers and increase the amount of local food served at schools, early childhood programs, colleges, hospitals, nursing homes, or other local institutions. 

Vermont farm or food businesses, Vermont producer groups or associations, and supply chain facilitators (non-profits, economic development authorities, food hubs, food brokers, etc.)  are eligible to apply. Awards range from $10,000-$30,000.

Application deadline: November 29th

Western New England Regenerative Livestock Farming Grants (RLF)

Western NE Regenerative Livestock Farming Grants 

Applications are open for the American Farmland Trust's 2024 Western New England Regenerative Livestock Farming funding opportunity.

The Western New England Regenerative Livestock Farming grant provides up to $10,000 for livestock producers in certain New England counties to improve soil health through the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices. 

The eligible Vermont counties are Essex, Caledonia, Orange, Windsor, Windham, and Bennington. 

Application Deadline: November 21st

Tire Slicer

Sign Up to be Notified: Free Tire Sidewalls 

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture has a new tire-slicer, with a mission to reduce the number of waste tires on the landscape, eliminate the mosquito breeding environment, and provide the sidewalls to Vermont farms.

Sidewalls can be used for weighting bunk tarps, chicken coop siding, outdoor steps, and more.
