Democratic candidates for Congress to discuss climate change, justice reform at VLGS
Event to take place on campus and online on July 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Vermont Business Magazine Two of the most pressing issues of the day – climate change and justice reform – will be discussed when Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) hosts a U.S. House Democratic Primary candidate forum on Monday, July 25.
The in-person event is open to the public and will take place at the school’s Chase Center from 6 to 7:30 pm. It will be livestreamed at vermontlaw.edu/live.
Candidates Becca Balint and Molly Gray are expected to participate and will field questions solicited in advance from VLGS students, faculty, and staff, as well as questions collected on-site and from the online audience during the event.
“The U.S. House is one of the most engaging and impactful races in Vermont this election year,” said Rodney Smolla, VLGS president. “And with action on climate change and justice reform so urgently needed at the federal level, this is a great opportunity for the VLGS community – and more importantly the voters of Vermont – to hear how these two candidates plan to tackle these challenges.”
Stephanie Clark, director of the VLGS Center for Justice Reform, and student Clara Derby JD/MELP’24, will serve as panelists.
“As a school of fellow advocates and innovators, the students of VLGS are excited to host these exciting candidates and engage in a thoughtful discussion around issues that are so important to our generation,” said Derby.
In accordance with the school’s COVID policies, all audience members will be required to wear masks. Candidates will be allowed to participate maskless if they provide proof of vaccination.
Plans for a Republican primary candidate forum are under development and will be announced soon.
