Vermont Business Magazine Burlington's Main Street Landing, home to Union Station, has hired a new CEO: Owiso Makuku. CEO Melinda Moulton announced the hiring on Facebook.
Moulton said: "I am absolutely overjoyed and thrilled to announce that Owiso Makuku will be stepping into my role as the new CEO for Main Street Landing. Owiso is a dear old friend who I have worked with over the years. Hats off to our hiring team for finding the perfect person for this perfect job at this perfect moment in time. "On February 21st, 2022, Owiso Makuku will assume the leadership of Main Street Landing as their new Chief Executive Officer. Owiso graduated from Middlebury College and holds both a Master of Architecture and a Master in City Planning from MIT. She has experience and a deep knowledge of redevelopment, community leadership, urban design, sustainability practices, and architectural design. Owiso's experience includes work around the world on community development projects. She serves on the Steering Committee for the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition, the Board of the Energy Co-op of Vermont and CarShareVT, and is a former Chair of the Burlington 2030 Energy District Program. She is certified as a LEED Green Associate by the US Green Building Council. Owiso Makuku has been a member of the Vermont community for many years and her extraordinary work, service, and commitment to our State is recognized by many. Main Street Landing is honored to have her as our new CEO."
