Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month

Mon, 11/29/2021 - 4:51am -- tim

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets November is National Native American Heritage Month, and as it comes to a close we reflect and pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans of our region. There is still time to celebrate through events, projects, and organizations to support this November and beyond.

The Abenaki Land Link Project is a partnership between the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk - Abenaki Nation, Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont, and the Vermont Farm to Plate Network's Rooted in Vermont program. The Land Link Project provides indigenous seeds to gardeners, homesteaders, and farmers around Vermont who are dedicating land to grow and harvest food for Abenaki citizens.

Learn more and get involved with the Abenaki Land Link Project and the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk - Abenaki Nation through Abenaki Helping Abenaki Inc. a 501(c)3 Non-Profit created by the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki, whose programs include the Nulhegan Food Security Programs, Abenaki Land Link Project, and Abenaki Bison Project.

Hear from a panel of Native American business owners at a workshop offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as they share their small business stories, how they pivoted during the pandemic, and the SBA resources they used to start and grow their businesses.
