Marathon Health expands across US

Vermont Business Magazine Amid a very uncertain economic climate that has other healthcare providers cutting back, Marathon Health continues to grow and expand, demonstrating its leadership in the workplace healthcare category. In the last six months, the company has signed new clients, including Tyson Foods and Wyndham Destinations, announced plans to expand to new regions across the US adding over 150 new hires, and completed a merger with OurHealth (led by General Atlantic). 

Magris to acquire Vermont, North American talc assets

Vermont Business Magazine Toronto-based mining company Magris Resources Canada Inc has entered into a definitive stalking-horse agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Imerys Talc America Inc, Imerys Talc Vermont Inc and Imerys Talc Canada Inc (collectively, the "North American Talc Business") for US$223 million. The North American Talc Business is being sold under proceedings commenced by the sellers under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

Vermont Arts Council awards nearly $200,000 in grants to 17 organizations

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Art Council awarded nearly $200,000 in Cultural Facilities Grants to 17 Vermont arts and community organizations to help provide critical funds to improve safety, upgrade equipment, and ensure that the arts are accessible to all Vermonters. The Council received 33 applications, the highest number of applications since 2001 when the Arts Council assumed administration of the program and began awarding grants. Awards range from $1,000 - $30,000 and require matching funding.

VDH COVID-19 Update: Cases in five schools and 12 at a rink, flu shots urged

Vermont Business Magazine Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD, said on Tuesday that the Health Department is currently investigating a small number of cases tied to five schools, but emphasized we still have not discovered any instances of transmission within the school. Dr Levine, along with Governor Scott and Secretary Smith, got his flu shot Tuesday and encouraged Vermonters to do the same. Smith also announced long-awaited new guidance for long-term care facilities and adult day programs.

State releases new guidance for nursing home visitation

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Agency of Human Services guidance for restarting visitation to long term care facilities was developed using CMS’s most recent guidance, and should be used by licensed long term care facilities to guide operations and easing of restrictions, based on county positivity rates; essentially re-starting modified visitation and activities unless a facility is in an active outbreak situation or just emerging from an outbreak.
