Vermont Outdoors Woman now an independent 501-C3 non profit

Vermont Outdoor Guide Association As we prepare for our 25th year of providing Vermont's recreation information to the public while working to improve awareness of the value of recreation tourism here at home, we are making several changes to our organization. In order to focus more on issues related to our industry, we changed our women's division, Vermont Outdoors Woman to an independent 501-C3 non profit organization. Outdoors Woman Inc DBA Vermont Outdoors Woman is now under new management with a new board of directors and a new website.

Many thanks to VOW sponsors, volunteers and instructors for supporting this important program and I hope that you will continue to assist the organization in delivering affordable outdoor educational programing to women in Vermont and beyond.

The Value of Advocacy:

Last spring with help from many of our friends and members, we were able to convince Governor Scott to veto S.105, a waiver busting bill that would have had a negative affect on the validity of waivers used in recreational settings. More than just guide services would have been affected. Youth programs and camps, charitable events and fund raisers such as races, Special Olympics, The Penguin Plunge and more would have been made more susceptible to frivolous lawsuits. With your help, we will continue to monitor the state legislature and advocate for Vermont's recreation industry.

I'd like thank our current members for staying with us during our time of transition. If you are late with your dues, please consider rejoining so that you can be included in our new directory. We'll be listing guide services, tour operators, trail organizations, lodging, gear rentals, retailers, manufacturers, outdoor educators and more on our new website. What's New?

New website coming to Promote Vermont's Recreation providers.

We hope to launch a new recreation directory in January, 2019. After gathering Vermont's recreation information for over a year, we've started work on the new website.

If you are familiar with Weebly, we are looking for volunteers to help us change over to a more mobile friendly format. With over 6,000 links, it will be a load of work and we'd appreciate any assistance.

We are also moving into a new office where we'll have space for meetings and work spaces for volunteers who'd like to help out. The move should be complete by the end of November but we're already working from the new space.
