Southwestern Vermont Health Care celebrates its centennial June 10

Vermont Business Magazine Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) has announced the schedule of activities for Centennial Community Day, a celebration of its 100th anniversary, presented by Mack Molding, Jerome Construction, and The Bank of Bennington. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, on the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Campus at 100 Hospital Drive in Bennington, VT.

“Our first 100 years at Southwestern Vermont Health Care have been extraordinary,” said Thomas A. Dee, FACHE, the health system’s president and CEO. “The purpose of this event is to celebrate with the community in a truly memorable way and to thank those—our physicians and staff, our community leaders and local businesses, our donors and, most importantly, our patients—who have contributed to making this health system one of the best in the country.”

The day’s events are extensive and include activities for all ages. It is free and open to the public. It will be completely tented and will take place rain or shine.

“We hope that everyone in our community comes to this celebration and participates in the fun we have planned,” Dee said. “Then, we’ll look ahead to the excitement and challenge of meeting this community’s health needs for the next 100 years.”

Attendees are encouraged to participate in Cancer Center Community Crusaders annual fundraising event, including the Cupcake Challenge, basket raffle, and vendor booths. Proceeds from the Cancer Center Community Crusaders’ activities support local cancer patients and research.

About Cancer Center Community Crusaders

The 4Cs mission is to provide short-term financial, physical, and emotional support to cancer patients who live within the SVRCC service area.  The group’s 3-year fundraising total tops $125,000. Financial assistance from the SVRCC Patient Resource Fund is available to those currently undergoing cancer treatment and struggling to make ends meet. Types of assistance available include travel expenses for treatments or second opinions, gas cards, help with utility and fuel expenses, dental care, wellness classes, and more. About Cancer Survivors’ Day

Cancer Survivors’ Day is an annual celebration of life held in hundreds of communities nationwide and embraced wholeheartedly by the staff and patients of the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center. Now in its 31st year, the national event aims to draw communities together around survivors, those who are recently diagnosed and their families. Much anticipated, the annual event includes lunch and entertainment. In 2018, cancer survivors are our guests of honor in our Centennial Community Day, a celebration of resilience and perseverance.
