VMEC and the VT Department of Labor have partnered to address a critical need that many manufacturers have to increase attracting and training new employees, and/or retaining, cross-training, and upskilling existing employees. Training Within Industry Job Instruction (TWI JI) training can help manufacturers who are facing these challenges caused or made worse by the global pandemic.
This is a Train-the-Trainer workshop. The objective of the workshop is to train employees how to teach someone else a job using the TWI-JI method. Knowing how to do something does not mean that we know how to teach someone else how to do it, or how to track their progress. Instructors need to clearly convey each element of a job task and why it needs to be done correctly. We cannot have standard work without standard training. TWI-JI teaches how to document standard work with a Job Breakdown Sheet (JBS) and how to instruct others using the JBS.

The primary goal of using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is to analyze problems to identify 1) What happened, 2) How it happened, 3) Why it happened so that actions to prevent recurrence are developed. In its most basic sense, RCA defines the problem, gathers the information, data & evidence, identifies all issues that contributed to the problem, determines root causes and lastly, identifies recommendations for corrective actions that eliminate the recurrence of problems. This training is ideal for Continuous improvement and Quality/ ISO 9001 personnel and anyone whose job it is to solve their company's problems!
