Annual Trotting of the Turkeys Nov 4th

-A A +A
The 4th Annual Trotting of the Turkeys is tomorrowSaturday November 4th! The event kicks off the giving season by providing Thanksgiving turkeys to those in need through the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The Burlington Sunrise Rotary Club organizes this fun and festive little event. The club gathers children and their families to register, and parade donated turkeys down Church Street.
Participants will start congregating on the top block of Church Street in Burlington at or before 10:45 am on 11/4. The UVM Pep Band and Dance Team will be performing (assuming good weather). Kids (and adults alike!) are encouraged to wear costumes to make the Trot even more festive. The Trot will begin at 11 am and wraps up at the bottom of Church Street at about 11:20 am. It’s a quick and fun event.

Events include the Trotting of the Turkeys and the annual Gear Swap. The club also participates in the Dragon Boat Festival and Light the Night fundraisers. Members regularly participate in making meals for guests at Hope Lodge. One of the major programs the club sponsors is Imagination Library that provides free books to children in need. On an international scale, the club supports the Kenya Safe Water project that is developed by one of the members.
