Vermont Mozart Festival Summer Season Begins July 17

-A A +A

Concerts in Stowe, Shelburne, Burlington, Charlotte Celebrate Mozart

One of Vermont’s premier classical music festivals will run July 17 through
Aug. 5 featuring the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  The 2018 Vermont
Mozart Festival, (VMF) sponsored by NBT Bank,  includes stops at the Coach
Barn and Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms; the scenic alpine meadow at Trapp
Family Lodge, Charlotte Town Beach, Burlington Country Club, Burlington City
Hall Park and Hotel Vermont.  Fireworks will top off the Trapp Family Lodge
Meadows concerts on July 27 and Aug. 3.  The summer festival is led by
founder and artistic director Michael Dabroski.

New this year, the VMF is offering a free “Experimental Power Half Hour”
at Manhattan Pizza in downtown Burlington. Every Wednesday evening (July 18,
25 and Aug. 1) at 9 p.m. during the festival a rotating ensemble of VMF
musicians will push their musicianship to the edge, reinterpreting the music
of Mozart and visiting the outer regions of classical & jazz populated by the
likes of John Zorn, Jonny Greenwood, Punch Brothers, Time for Three,
Hauschka, and The Danish String Quartet.

One of the unique aspects of the VMF is the NBT Bank Fellowship Summer
Program that brings together some of the most talented and promising young
professional musicians (ages 21-30) to Vermont for the summer series.,
explained Dabroski.

Fellows rehearse and perform concerts including various chamber music,
orchestral and concerto works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In addition to
making music, Fellows attend a series of music entrepreneur workshops and
receive individual tutorials to learn elements of successful business plan
writing while incorporating their career goals into a project.

Participating Fellows are selected on the basis of instrumental needs,
ability, and supporting materials. All Fellows receive a full scholarship
which covers the full cost of tuition, housing at Champlain College in
Burlington, and a meal plan to support the full learning potential of each
young professional musician. Meet the 2018 Vermont Mozart Festival Fellows at

Past fellows have proudly represented the Shepherd School of Music, New World
Symphony, Yale School of Music, The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute,
Eastman School of Music, McGill University, USC Thornton School of Music,
Manhattan School of Music, and others.

Vermont Mozart Festival celebrates the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart by
providing year-round concert events in Vermont and internationally in Cuba,
Dominican Republic and Palestine with the objective of increasing public
access to concerts, creating new audiences and fostering the new generation
of professional musicians through entrepreneurial education.

In addition to NBT Bank, Xfinity, Farrell Properties, and Cambrian Rise are
also supporters of the annual Vermont Mozart Festival.
