Ice Golf Fundraiser to Support Camp Ta-Kum-Ta
More than 100 golfers will hit the frozen links on the ice of Mallett’s Bay in Colchester on Saturday, February 2nd to support Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and kids with cancer.
Summer camp might seem far off on a frozen day in February, but not for these dedicated golfers who are hitting the links in support of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta. More than 100 golfers will brave the 9 hole course which sits on top of the ice in Mallett’s Bay. Teams of four will play in a scramble-format starting at Bayside Beach. All proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Ta-Kum-Ta and its year round programming for children who have or have had cancer.
Volunteers have been out on the ice ,for nearly a day, setting up the course and event which sent two kids to camp, last year.
“We are so grateful for our dedicated supporters who make events like this possible.” noted Dan Osman, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta’s Director of Development. “Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is a very special community that brings joy to so many children who need an opportunity to just be kids. Without events like this, the organizers, players, and spectators, Camp would not be possible. This is going to put smiles on the faces of a lot of kids.”
Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is funded completely through the generosity of individuals and accepts all children at no cost to their families.
Registration for the Ice golf Scramble starts at 11 am at the pickled Perch in Colchester, with the event starting at Noon.
Camp Ta-Kum-Ta provides challenging, extraordinary experiences in a safe and loving environment for children who have or have had cancer and their loved ones. Camp serves Vermont and Northern New York children (including other out-of-state children who are treated in Vermont) at no cost to their families.
