EastView is Middlebury’s Premier Non-Profit Senior Community. Nestled on 40 acres with tremendous views, Eastview offers Independent Living, Residential Care, and Memory Care. We foster independence and freedom, promote a high quality of life, and pride ourselves on providing the highest quality senior living environment while responding to the changing needs of those we serve.
The seed for EastView began with a man who was looking to find an exceptional retirement community for his parents. Finding none in the area, he began to think that Middlebury might be the perfect place given the remarkable college town setting, the beauty and charm of the landscape, and the diverse cultural offerings in the region. He shared his concept, more people joined, and a plan blossomed. Non-Profit senior living with community mindfulness, its cornerstone. With the generous support of Middlebury College and Porter Medical Center, EastView’s spectacular 40-acre site became a reality.
Our vision is to be recognized and respected as the retirement community of choice, providing the highest quality senior living environment while responding to the changing needs of those we serve.
Our values as an organization are: Stewardship, Resident Centered, Integrity, Quality, and Education.
Our Independent Cottages and Apartments offer the opportunity to combine your personality with warm design features. The value of social interaction, physical and intellectual stimulation, programs and activities, and our amazing food can’t be paralleled. There is an initial investment in the community, with 90% of the entry fee refunded upon vacancy and re-occupancy of the living space. We have a salon, fitness room, library, art center, large community room, and other amenities.
Residential care offers spacious yet cozy private apartments complemented by comfortable community. We provide month to month living arrangement, no entry fee, 24-hour nursing oversight and care staff, 3 meals a day plus snacks, programs and activities, transportation to appointments, and other amenities. Our neighborhood is filled with residents who value their independence, and staff who celebrate each person’s individuality and spirit. Together we create a care plan so our staff can aid in the tasks that might be difficult for the resident to do on his or her own, thereby ensuring plenty of time and energy to enjoy their favorite things.
Our Memory Care neighborhood’s physical design and the rhythm of each day are a mindful integration of activities and comfortable spaces that engage the whole person. We inspire creativity, movement, curiosity, reflection, and participation. Our dining room is the hub that welcomes all who enter. Beyond the tables, French doors lead out to the secure and beautiful spacious garden courtyard where many of our residents take part in exercise, talking with each other and visitors, or having a meal. Bask in the serenity and beauty of the outdoors.
All of our residents in Memory Care are provided a studio apartment and have a month to month living arrangement.
The pride of our Memory Care neighborhood is our Namaste Care Program. This is one of two in the entire state of Vermont that focuses on care for cognitive decline. As a high-sensory touch environment, we use an a’chromotherapy program that includes massage, aromatherapy, guided meditation, hydration, foot and nail care, and music and memory.
