Consistently viewed as a booming technology company in the Burlington community, Dealer.com has always looked to find ways to better serve its automotive retail industry customers. This is why the company merged with Dealertrack in 2014, and why, just recently, it made another industry-savvy move.
In October 2015, Dealertrack was acquired by Cox Automotive, a leading provider of digital marketing, wholesale, and e-commerce solutions across the auto industry. With Dealer.com and Dealertrack on board, Cox Automotive now has the strongest industry portfolio with more than 25 brands, including Kelley Blue Book and AutoTrader that together provide end-to-end digital automotive retail and wholesale solutions.
As part of the Cox Automotive family, Dealer.com will now have broader capabilities, such as more open-choice solutions and extended resources for helping customers navigate a rapidly changing automotive marketplace and grow their business. Similar to the March 2014 merge with Dealertrack, Dealer.com continues to focus on one goal: to deliver technologies capable of transforming how cars are marketed and sold, making the online to in-store car-buying experience transparent, efficient, and enjoyable.
While Dealer.com has grown from a small Vermont tech company to part of an organization that generates over a trillion dollars in revenue annually, the company remains rooted in its Howard/Pine Streets headquarters, with its 900-plus Vermont employees contributing to the growing tech hub Burlington has quickly become.
The company attributes much of its success to its ability to scale a powerful culture as it grows, working hard as a team and celebrating just as hard as a family. Seventeen years since it was founded, Dealer.com’s philosophy is still centered on its principle that people are the key to its success. Focused on attracting and retaining the industry’s top talent, Dealer.com maintains its energetic small-company culture within its larger corporate family at Cox Automotive.
On any given day, the Dealer.com presence is felt throughout the community – whether supporting ongoing technology and innovation, championing local arts, or promoting youth education. Giving back is a tenet of the company’s culture. Through its company-wide volunteer days, the team can be seen cleaning up the Moran Plant, supporting the Pine Forest Children’s Center, or logging in countless hours at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.
With so many exciting changes in the past year and a half, Dealer.com is better poised than ever to make a lasting impact on both the automotive industry and the Vermont community. While the company has become part of the national Cox Automotive family of brands, Dealer.com will continue to identify and implement innovative ways to better serve today’s auto retail industry from its home in Burlington, Vermont.
