Established several years ago as a locally Vermont owned and operated clinic, located in South Burlington, now with a staff of 12 and well over 400 client companies Champlain Medical specializes in the evaluation, treatment and management of occupational injuries as well as general workplace issues of health and safety on the job. We expect to double our facility size by summer 2018. Our valued growing list of clients includes City of Burlington, University of Vermont, Champlain Chocolates, Vermont Rail, IBM/Global Foundries, BioTek, Milton Fire Department among many other very satisfied companies. We are experts in all aspects of occupational issues including drug/alcohol testing, physical exams including pre-employment, post offer, fit for duty, annual physicals and are certified to perform DOT, immigration and FAA pilot required medical exams. Our well-trained staff interacts with Health & Safety Officers, HR personnel, Workers’ Comp insurance adjusters and nurse case managers to the benefit of both employees and employers both large and small. We place strong emphasis on keeping employees healthy while providing efficient cost-effective occupational testing and injury treatment with genuine attention to avoiding any unnecessary services, which helps the bottom line of our valued clients. Our staff are trained to do all occupational medicine services and procedures including booth audiometry as part of our hearing conservation program, respirator use OSHA required testing including fit testing from n95 to SCBA and pulmonary function tests, vision screening using Titmus technology, as well as EKG. We provide referrals for ergonomic evaluations, Occupational and Physical Therapy and work hardening when appropriate. Our focus is on injury prevention as well as timely cost effective treatment of injured workers. We are able to tailor our services to each client company and make available 24/7 access when needed. This saves employers money by reducing WC costs and MOD rates while providing a depth of experience in diagnosis and treatment of workplace injuries. Our familiarity with Vermont Labor laws and federal OSHA regulations is second to none. Our Medical Director, Dr. Josh Schwartzberg is an osteopathic physician with over 40 years experience and oversees all injury cases with a goal of correct diagnosis and timely cost effective treatment. He brings a Holistic approach from many years of work as a family doctor and has the attitude to treat patients how he would want to be treated when sick or injured. He has served on the Board of Directors of NECOEM (New England College of Occupational Environmental Medicine) and has been on teaching faculty of several medical schools.  Additional clinical staff includes his wife, Beth Schiller AGNP Nurse Practitioner, Vivian Ezparza M.D., Molly Somaini PA Physician assistant, Karen Huyck MD, MPH, FACOEM. Dr. Huyck is expert in performing IME exams as well as Impairment Ratings and has also served on the NECOEM Board.
